St. John's, NL (January 13, 2010) - It's been eight years, eight Canadian cities, and one remarkable journey for the JUNO Awards since the landmark decision was made to take the annual show on the road across Canada. Now the JUNO Awards come full circle! Canada's greatest music celebration returns to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador – site of the unforgettable first leg of the cross-country road trip – for the 39th Annual JUNO Awards.
Today at a media conference held in St. John's, The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced the official dates, venues and ticketing details for JUNO Week Events converging on the city April 12 - 18. JUNO Week culminates with THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS broadcast from Mile One Centre, Sunday, April 18 on CTV.
"It feels like a homecoming. St. John's set in motion our Great Canadian Road Trip, and we're thrilled to be back to rekindle old friendships and showcase this fantastic city and province," said Melanie Berry, President & CEO of CARAS. "St. John's brought incredible enthusiasm in 2002, and is sure to bolster new excitement for the 2010 JUNO Awards."
Other major news announcements were made at today's media conference. Ms. Berry announced 18-time JUNO Award winner Bryan Adams as the recipient of the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award; former Chairman and Founding Director of CARAS, Ross Reynolds, will receive the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award.

The St. John's Host City Committee will also be putting its own stamp on JUNO Week, terming the slogan "Ruckus on the Edge" as the theme for all its unique and exciting local festivities planned. JUNO Week will encompass seven days of music celebrations and popular events including Juno Cup, JunoFest, Juno Fan Fare and Songwriters' Circle.
